Private tours from Cusco

Private tours from Cusco differ greatly in travel time, altitude, physical effort and what is included. This page compares the current bookable selection by real review totals, duration and price. Check the exact starting point and entry arrangements before booking: many famous places are in the wider Cusco region rather than in the city, and an early pickup can make a short-looking itinerary a very long day.

Planning: Cusco itself stands at about 3,400 metres. Do not treat the first day like a test of fitness, and do not confuse a city tour with a mountain excursion. Weather, road conditions and rail schedules can change the practical duration; the booking page is the final source for pickup, cancellation and accessibility details.

Common questions

Is Machu Picchu in Cusco itself?

No. Cusco is the main gateway, but Machu Picchu is reached by road and train through the Sacred Valley. The train from Ollantaytambo takes about 1.5 hours.

Can Machu Picchu be visited as a day trip?

Yes, but it is a long day with fixed train and entry times. An overnight stay in Aguas Calientes gives more margin.

How high is Cusco?

Cusco is around 3,400 metres above sea level. Plan a quiet first day before strenuous hikes.

What is actually in Cusco city?

The historic centre, Qorikancha, San Blas and San Pedro Market are in town. Machu Picchu, the Sacred Valley and the mountain hikes are excursions.

Does Cusco have beaches or a harbour?

No. Cusco is a high-Andean inland city. Its strengths are archaeology, mountain landscapes, trekking, food and day trips.

How long is the Sacred Valley drive?

Allow roughly 1.5 hours from central Cusco to the valley, before stops. A full itinerary takes most of a day.
